SAUVIGNON BLANC, Comte de Saint Aignan, Loire Valley, France
2019 Vintage | 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Bottled by Léon Vatan in Sancerre for the Comte de Saint Aignan, 12% ABV. Crisp, cool and mineral, gooseberries and box tree, light body but nice flavour intensity, uncomplicated but with lovely varietal typicity and just a trace of passion fruit. Unadulterated Touraine Sauvignon.
CABERNET FRANC, Bodega Claroscuro, Uco Valley, Mendoza, Argentina
2018 Vintage | 100% Cabernet Franc
Intense reddish tones, spicy & highly complex fruit, and chocolate & sweet aromas from the aging in French oak stand out. It has a voluminous fruit palate, given the perfect maturity of this harvest, with moderate alcohol and balanced natural acidity. The concentration of flavours and its persistence make this an impressive wine in the vein of the best cool-climate Cab Francs.
We are very impressed with this wine, and it's nice to be able to find a great non-Malbec example of talented Argentinian wine-making.
CÔTES du RHÔNE, Château de Ruth, Rhône Valley, France
2018 Vintage | Grenache & Syrah
Château de Ruth stands in Sainte-Cécile-les-Vignes, to the north-east of Orange in heart of the terroir of the southern Rhône Valley. The domain is one of the oldest in the Rhône Valley, its name first appeared in 1561.
This wine is ruby-violet coloured, and has deep aromas of black cherries, red berries, plum skins, and violets. On the palate it is pure and deep, then grows in intensity and finishes with berries, minerals & licorice. The old-vine flavours are soft in texture and a real presence on the mineral-spice finish.
