Ruby red colour with aromas of blackberries, leather, cherries and red currant with a touch of liquorice and vanilla. Sweet and persistent tannins.
2018 is one of the two most favourable vintages for Chianti Classico from 2014-2018, 2016 the other, yielding the best balance between complexity of aromas, power and richness.
Fattoria Poggerino, in Chianti Classico's historic commune of Radda is run by Piero Lanza, who co-owns the 28-acre property with his sister, Benedetta.
Planted with 20 different clones of Sangiovese, and a little Merlot for use in some other wines, the vineyard is organically farmed.
